Caracas.- During the Forum on Constitutional Defense of People's Sovereignty, held at the Teresa Carreño Theater on Saturday, Escarra recalled that the May 20 elections granted full legitimacy to the president as a result of a fully democratic electoral process.
The ballot boxes expressed the popular will of the Venezuelans in a transparent way, he noted.
Escarra, who is also a lawyer, rejected the pretensions by the right-wing governments of the the self-styled Lima Group that signed a document on Friday calling for a coup d'etat in Venezuela.
The alliance aims to prevent President Maduro's inauguration, scheduled for January 10, and to ignore Venezuelan society's decision, Escarra underlined.
The Lima Group meeting was attended by only six of its 15 foreign ministers, plus US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, through a videoconference from Washington.
During the meeting, the United States representative insisted again on the intention of isolating and overthrowing the Bolivarian government. (PL)
