Lebanon to File Complaint with UN for Israel's Violations

The Lebanese government will file a complaint with the UN Security Council over recent Israeli violations on its southern border, local media reported on Friday.


Beirut.- At the end of a meeting of the Lebanese Supreme Defense Council, they also agreed to request a dialogue between the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Lebanese and Israeli armies.

In that meeting, the Lebanese representatives will address transgressions committed by Tel Aviv by placing 25 blocks in a disputed border area. The Lebanese Defense Ministry reaffirmed the commitment to defend every inch of land and water, while issuing orders and instructions for the army in case that tension continues.

The council asked the UN and UNIFIL for their responsibility to implement United Nations Resolution 1701 and maintain border security.

The Supreme Defense Council said in a statement that it describes Israel's actions an attack on Lebanese territory in violation of Article Five of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. (PL)
