The Venezuelan Ministry of Health on Tuesday received about 71 tons of medical supplies from the technical-humanitarian cooperation between China and this South American country.

Caracas.- From the Simón Bolívar International Airport, located in Vargas state, Health Minister Carlos Alvarado said that the load consists of 1,525,400 units of medicines and 450,000 units of surgical medical supplies, "to diminish the effects of the economic blockade imposed by States United."

The minister posted on Twitter that the load was received by the governor of Vargas Jorge Luis García Carneiro and Chinese ambassador to Caracas Baorong Li.

Alvarado explained that a large part of the supplies and medicines will be distributed in the Maternal Route plan and the Respiratory Health program, both projects deployed throughout the country.

"With this second load, plus what we have already received from Russia, the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement, we have 166 tons, which will be distributed through the National Public Health System," Alvarado said.

He noted that medical supplies worth US$104 million will be delivered to Venezuela in the next six months,"so all needs will be supplied." (PL)
