Hussein ratified the will of the Malaysian government to work in combination with member countries of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) to stop the terrorist organization from controlling the region.
Hussein made the remark at a meeting of Malaysia's ruling political party United Malaysian National Organization, in which Hussein regarded the ISIS as 'an enemy of the government.'
The Asian region remains in alert since late May, when extremist groups Maute and Abu Sayyaf rose up in arms in the city of Marawi, in southern Philippines.
According to intelligence reports, the Yihadist terrorists are trying to establish a Caliphate in the island of Mindanao, site of an Islamic separatist conflict which has caused between 100,000 and 150,000 dead over the past four decades. (PL)
