A communique from the office of Prime Minister Hubert Minnis advised the population in general and the traders of basic items that if they increase the prices they will be committing criminal offense.

The Prices Commission will start a program of strict supervision, checkup of the prices to be collected by the basic products, said the authorities.

If there is any infraction, or suspicion on it, the Commission will report the Prosecutor Office, who after consulting the Director of the Public Ministry and the Police will quicly investigate the cause of the increasing of the prices, to act in consequence with the case.

Though Bahamas is not among the countries under prevention or disaster warning right now, the predictions say Hurricane Irma will make impact on the weekend. (PL)
