The French association Cuba Linda today reiterated its solidarity with the Caribbean island and its condemnation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on it by the United States, a siege that it denounced as an act of war.
Paris.- Regarding the holding of its general assembly, the organization created in 1998 to seek a rapprochement between Cuba and France, rejected Washington's aggressive policy and the difficulties it creates for the people of the Antillean nation.
In particular, it denounced in the final statement of the meeting the impact of the U.S. blockade in key areas such as energy, health, and food.
It also demanded that the United States abandon its destabilizing actions and interference in Cuba's internal affairs, and the return of territory occupied by a naval base in eastern Guantanamo province.
Cuba Linda also demanded to exclude the Island from the unilateral list of countries that Washington considers sponsors of terrorism, which it called shameful.
The final declaration of the General Assembly expresses pride in the recent decoration in Havana of the president of the association, Didier Lalande, with the Medal of Friendship awarded by the largest of the Antilles.
For us, this recognition embodies years of commitment, struggle, and solidarity with Cuba, the text reflects.
The meeting was attended by the second head of the island's Diplomatic Mission in France, Justo Rodríguez, who shared details about the Cuban reality and thanked the organization support, which, each year, leads dozens of French people to meet the Caribbean country, its history, its causes, and its people.
