A 6.0 earthquake on the Richter scale was felt in Las Tunas at 10:50 this Sunday, with an epicenter 36 kilometers southwest of Pilón, in the province of Granma, at a depth of 14.2 kilometers (km), as confirmed by the National Center for Seismological Research (CENAIS), in Santiago de Cuba. An hour later a second tremor of 6.7 was felt, also about 32 km southeast of the Granma town, said the same source.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The reports of perceptibility came from several municipalities in Las Tunas, where many inhabitants knew about it through a direct alert they received on their mobile phones. In the provincial capital, residents in the 12-floor building left their apartments for a few minutes.
So far similar notifications have come from all the provinces of eastern Cuba, in addition to Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila. In the Heroic City, it was described as one of the most intense earthquakes felt there.
These would be the perceptible earthquakes 13 and 14 in Cuba this year.
In November 2022, a telluric movement of 4.6 on the Richter scale was reported very close to this province, at 86 km northeast of the Las Tunas City.
