Gaza: devastation caused by 15 months of Israeli aggression.

The Arab League has rejected US President Donald Trump's plans to displace the population of Gaza and occupy the territory to rebuild it, after the devastation caused by 15 months of Israeli aggression.

Cairo. The organization published a statement that joined the global criticism of Trump's strategy announced during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The proposal contradicts international law and represents a recipe for instability in the Middle East, the League stressed, according to which the idea does not contribute to achieving the two-state solution; “the only way to establish peace and security between Palestinians and Israelis.”

The Arab League assured that the Palestinian cause has full support in the region, and defended the right of the inhabitants of Gaza and the West Bank to have an independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The League condemned any political separation of the two territories and the continued Israeli violations of the rights of the Palestinian people. “The proposal made by Trump implies promoting the displacement of citizens from the coastal enclave, which is rejected by the Arabs and internationally,” it stressed.

The organization stressed that the project violates international law and UN Security Council resolutions on the issue. (PL)
