Alexander Grushko, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko announced on Monday that Moscow could take "preventive countermeasures" in response to the expected increase in NATO air and missile defense capabilities.

Moscow.- In an interview with Sputnik on Monday, the diplomat recalled that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had spoken out in favor of increasing allied air and missile defense capabilities five times to “defend against Russia.”

Grushko stated that we could interpret those words as a recognition of the power our Armed Forces have demonstrated during the special military operation in Ukraine.

The deputy foreign minister refused to predict how long it would take NATO to achieve that goal, but commented that “its work to improve the integrated air and missile defense system has always been slow to advance.”

He warned that our response will depend on emerging threats.

In the event of any hostile action toward Russia, we will take all necessary countermeasures, including preventive ones. (PL)
