The Second Regional Conference of the International Union of Trade Unions of Retired and Pensioned Persons of the Americas Region is underway at the headquarters of the Cuban Trade Union Federation.
Havana, Cuba.- The hybrid meeting, with the participation of 220 delegates and guests, concludes this Friday with debates on population aging, care for the elderly, and retirement in times of economic, social, and political crisis of capitalist systems.
The secretary-general of the World Federation of Trade Unions, George Mavrikos, sent a virtual message that specifies the contribution of the labor movement in the coordination and joint action with pensioners and retirees in each country.
Likewise, the Greek trade unionist pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen the International Union of Trade Unions with participation in the daily struggles, small and big.
Among the topics highlighted in the agenda of the regional meeting is the attention to the elderly in Cuba, the benefits of security, social assistance, and their rights. (RHC)
