Pride, satisfaction, joy, and different feelings were experienced at the University of Las Tunas during the graduation of more than 900 young people from the Pedagogical, Physical Culture, and Accounting and Finance faculties.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Doctor of Sciences Yoenia Virgen Barbán Sarduy, the university's rector, dedicated a few words to the professionals of the daytime course and the short-cycle specialties, congratulating them and encouraging them to continue to improve.
"You have conquered a goal that demanded effort and dedication; together with you, your professors, who today ask you to continue along the path of study and scientific research. Never abandon the University, return to it for postgraduate studies, give to society your knowledge, energies, and virtues, and never forget the words of the Apostle when he said: ‘A man's duty is there, where he is most useful’, she said.
At the ceremony held at the Pepito Tey Campus theatre, 44 young people received the Golden Title for their academic results, while 23 received the Scientific Merit Award.
In addition, the University Student Federation (FEU, in Spanish) recognized the performance of outstanding students in various fields such as teaching, research, culture, sports, and social work, as well as student assistants and student leaders.
Gabriela María Martínez, one of the graduates, said that her journey was an unforgettable experience, in which she was not only formed academically but also as a human being and citizen.
Meanwhile, Dariel David Zayas commented on his satisfaction as he completed his studies. "Five years of difficulties that we overcame, one after the other, until we achieved our first objective, which is to graduate, and then to become better professionals and better ourselves," he told 26.
At the celebration, organizations and entities recognized the outstanding university students for their links with them during their studies and pre-professional internships.
Since its creation, almost three decades ago, the University of Las Tunas has graduated thousands of professionals; an essential work for the territory and the country.
