The Las Tunas Provincial Electoral Council (CEP, in Spanish) has carried out more than 80 electoral processes from December 2021 to date, as an example of the intense work carried out by this Cuban State body in the most important events of a popular nature.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- In its work, the rigorous selection of electoral authorities, the training and completion of templates, and the feat of having developed amid serious economic limitations three processes for the approval of the Code of Families, the municipal and national elections, in addition to the election of delegates to the municipal assemblies of the People's Power, when vacancies occurred for the most diverse causes, stand out.
The president of the CEP in Las Tunas, Martha Rodríguez Martínez, assured 26 that the CEP works all year round to guarantee the quality of the election processes, which are systematically carried out. So far this year, more than 20 such processes have been held in the provincial capital alone.
The CEP in Las Tunas took office on September 18, 2019, and is composed of a president, a vice-president, a secretary, and 14 members, elected or appointed by the Electoral Law endorsed last July 13 in a session of the National Assembly of People's Power, corresponding to the Third Ordinary Period of sessions of the Ninth Legislature.
This permanent body of the Cuban state is attached to the Constitution of the Republic and the laws, constitutes the highest electoral authority in the province, acts with total independence from any other local body, and only reports to the National Electoral Council.
