![]() "The commitment is to achieve the prosperity of the communities," confirms Olga Lidia, the president of the Lora Popular Council. |
Despite its vast territorial extension, the Popular Council 9, Lora, in the municipality of Jesús Menéndez, is small for Olga Lidia Rodríguez Pérez, its president, because her energies and enthusiasm cover it in the blink of an eye.
"This constituency of the People's Power extends from the village of Arroyón to La Herradura beach, explains the diligent woman and explains that its total universe includes seven districts with their particularities, but “yes, she emphasizes, with common objectives that we are achieving with the strength of the unity that characterizes our work”.
Its inhabitants, hard-working and good people, have a new motivation these days, ‘we won the headquarters of the municipal act for the 26th of July’, he remarks and comments that the award is a prize for the collective work that faces the multiple challenges of these times and is the architect of a better future that they work with their hands, their heart and the sweat of their brow.
-What did you do to deserve this recognition?
"Nothing unusual, just work thinking that we are responsible for our collective and individual well-being, for the family, for the new generations, and for sustaining and defending the Revolution that transformed this region from an economic and social point of view."
"The fruit of this hard work is the results that made the designation possible, a work characterized by the unity of all the factors integrated into the community groups, the People's Council as such, and its districts, which made it possible to achieve the fundamental indicators of the productive forms and the service-providing units that occupy spaces in the Council," Olga Lidia emphasizes.
Without resorting to any other resource than her memory, she speaks gratefully of the work carried out: "We have five productive bases and all of them have fulfilled their state mandate," and emphasizes the production of milk and beef, and the sowing of rustic crops (sweet potato, cassava, and donkey) which are offered to the population and which, although they do not satisfy the demand, show that there is no laziness.
Without chauvinism, she states that "the local Family Care System (SAF in Spanish) also excels in the attention to the diners, the quality of the food, and that the prestige gained by the Public Health services in the locality is great, showing the best indicators in the Mother and Child Program in the municipality, and the permanence and attention provided by the family doctors in the six existing clinics."
In the social sphere, she praises the contribution of the nine educational institutions located in the area, "all of them are outstanding," she emphasizes and speaks of the Ernesto Guevara Urban Basic Secondary School (ESBU in Spanish), "the most outstanding for its results at the end of the school year, and in the competitions at national, provincial and municipal levels, in the stability of its staff, the permanence of the students and the support of the family in the teaching-educational process and other extracurricular tasks."
Therefore, Olga Lidia and her constituents could sit back and wait for the praise they deserve, but ‘we cannot feel satisfied, because there are still many things to be done and others could be done better’, she says with conviction and carries this philosophy as a banner to promote new tasks that generate the current challenges and continue to reap achievements for the benefit of the communities.
Olga Lidia ratifies the commitment to continue moving forward, supporting and improving everything that depends on our efforts, because "we are public servants and our mission is to control, watch over and demand to live up to what the highest authorities of the country and the province are asking of us in matters related to increasing the prosperity of the people, and we will not disappoint that trust," she exalts in her farewell.
