The municipality of Colombia hosted the Provincial Act for the 66th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

Yandry Otaño GuerraColombia, Las Tunas.- Yandry Otaño Guerra, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in the southern territory, told 26 that there have been many incentives for this celebration, which are embodied in four work programs that will result in local socio-economic development and better quality of life for the population.

"The first thing is to promote food production, our main challenge currently. The priority is in the Las Mercedes production pole, which has 27 hectares planted, mostly with plantain, cassava, and sweet potato.

"However, it is an ambitious project that, in the long term, aims to complete the 150 hectares, with which the Municipal Self-Supply Program can be materialized."

Other pending tasks are the process of bankarization of the society, the construction of type 4 housing, and the restoration of the main road, from the division of the municipality of Guáimaro, in Camagüey, to Kilometer 18.

"This repair, designed with a national budget, will generate enormous satisfaction for our people because this road is completely deteriorated. When the work is finished, the bus route from Havana to 'Amancio' can be reinstated."

Elvis Espinosa GarcíaElvis Espinosa García, president of the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power, added that the highway's construction situation has remained a concern in several delegate's accountability processes to the voters, and its solution will benefit the nearly 31,650 inhabitants. He also said that the celebrations for the Triumph of the Revolution will find support in the 26 production units, the 46 educational centers of all teachings, the six health institutions, and the 35 offices of the Family Doctor and Nurse, among other dependencies.

"Colombia" has been transformed by the work system established by the political and administrative leadership of the municipality. Notable outcomes include the reduction of infant and maternal mortality rates to zero, the reintegration of retirees into educational roles, and support to communities and individuals in vulnerable conditions.
