The Art of Scrutinizing Past Lives
The General Assembly of the Speleological Society of Cuba, held as part of its 85th International Congress -held in Holguín at the end of January- was attended on behalf of the Atabex-Mabiabón Group by museologist Abel Julio Sastre Matos. According to him, the work carried out by the group based in the Villa Azul (Puerto Padre municipality) was recognized there, which “together with the initial work of the same, led by the late Ramón Garrido Padilla, led to the approval of the new Committee. Las Tunas was the only province in the country that did not have one.”
According to Sastre Matos, the Speleological Society of Cuba was founded by Antonio Núñez Jiménez on January 15, 1940, and it is a scientific institution that deals with the exploration and study of speleological and karst sciences, supports research and contributes to development in these fields.
