Javier Quintero Reyes became the first direct delegate of the country to the III National Conference of the Union of Civilian Defense Workers (SNTCD, in Spanish), which will be held in Havana in September this year, on the date that coincides with the 54th anniversary of the organization's foundation.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The attendants to the meeting, with their direct and secret vote, granted the high award to Quintero Reyes, who works in the pig center of Puerto Padre, attached to the integral military agricultural and livestock farm of Las Tunas, which belongs to the Holguín-Las Tunas Military Agricultural and Livestock Enterprise.
After knowing the results of the scrutiny, Quintero Reyes thanked the trust placed in him by his colleagues and acknowledged the merits accumulated by the other pre-candidates selected in the organic process carried out in the union sections.
Visibly moved, he said, “I will bring the concerns and proposals of my colleagues, which combine achievements, good practices, and also their needs. I will pass on the experiences of my farm, which has been selected as the best of its kind in the country for the last three years."
“The decision to begin by this labor collective the election of the 25 delegates who with the same condition will attend the final sessions of the conference recognizes how they are fulfilling their mission of providing food to the troops: with much passion, with much dedication and with very good results”, said Mabel Acea García, general secretary of the SNTCD National Committee, in the emotional meeting that brought together managers and workers of the three establishments of this productive enclave in the province.
Brigadier General Roberto Reyes La O, The Company’s general director, praised the unity of all the factors in the local entity and ratified the attribute as a guarantor of victory in the face of the current challenges.
“Today, with the limitations we have, it is decisive its work to feed the troops. Here is where they sow the most with oxen, with picks and sometimes without plowing all the land, they plant and obtain fruits,” he praised.
He added that for the company, it is a great satisfaction that the Las Tunas farm was designated to start the process because "Workers have shown that in rainfed conditions it is possible to achieve good results in food production. They are demonstrating it in Jobabo, Puerto Padre, and Amancio, and in other local structures that are part of the entity's patrimony.”
“This farm, remarked Reyes La O, produces for other provinces of the eastern territory and when necessary has attended demands from other areas”, and stressed the importance of what they are doing: “You cannot stop, you are demonstrating that it is possible to do a lot with little.”
“They are also outstanding in union work,” said Niurka Barraza Cedeño, secretary general of the SNTCD Provincial Bureau, and highlighted the good performance of the union bureau, “which stands out, she argued, in the fulfillment of the numerical tasks and the program My Contribution to the Homeland, to which each worker voluntarily donated one hundred pesos.”
She emphasized that they were worthy of the trophy The Seed of Dignity, “which shows that they have made own the conference motto: United, firm and vigilant, which presides over the important union meeting.”
