17 rural communities will benefit with hydraulic networks

The hydraulic development strategy until 2030 is a priority for the workers of the Aqueduct and Sewerage Base Business Unit (UEB) in Manatí.

Manatí, Las Tunas.- With the implementation of the first phase, 17 rural communities will benefit, which are supplied with drinking water by train.

Manuel Rivero Cabrera, director of Aqueduct and Sewerage in ManatíThis form of management, in the project phase, will have a positive impact on the quality of the service. It is proposed to eradicate the current way in which the resource is brought to each demarcation, to save more than 2,400 liters of oil, avoid spending more than 154,000 pesos in national currency, shorten supply cycles and, therefore, to raising the level of popular satisfaction about the service.

“There are 17 communities that are supplied by train, from La Anacahuita to Tasajera, which add up to more than 2,300 people. We still have to define which of these would be the first to initiate actions. The communities 17, 18, 19, and 20 require an easy solution, because it involves a conduit through the Las Margaritas Pumping Station,” Manuel Rivero Cabrera, director of the UEB, points out.

“The solution is more expensive in communities like La Anacahuita because it is necessary to drill wells and build a conduit. When we have the schedule in place, we will inform the population.” He added that the hydraulic development in Manatí does not end with the execution of these works, because in other places, such as the main town, water is received through tanker trucks. The service will also be transformed there.

“Other works are going to be carried out for maintenance, i.e., it is a fairly ambitious investment plan. In José Galguera and Frank País streets, and the Centro Escolar district, the liquid supply situation must improve. In this case, we are talking of almost four thousand people to be benefited."

Achieving that most of the municipality receives drinking water through hydraulic networks constitutes the maximum objective of this strategy until 2030. Some 18 thousand clients will benefit in one of the driest territories in the country.
