On the day in which the Cuban News Agency celebrates its 47th anniversary, the Las Tunas Correspondent of this media celebrates the Prize for the Work of Life granted to Róger Aguilera Morales, chief correspondent and chair of journalism in this territory.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- With special enthusiasm, the small group of just five people homaged the consecrated reporter; because beyond the feelings of gratitude and affection that unite them, Aguilera Morales deserved this recognition for his dedication to the work of the Agency, for more than 40 years; delivery that is complemented by his talent, ethics, and professionalism.
Although reserved for emotions and even a bit starchy if it is about celebrations, according to his own words, at the time of receiving the news, Róger expressed feeling very happy because it is a prize for perseverance and for which one does not work.
"This is the only thing I have done all my life," the teacher of several generations of journalists said. His work as a chief correspondent has been combined with that of reporter, without neglecting administrative matters for the greater comfort of the group, which range from the vitality of transport to the organization and sense of detail in the premises of the Correspondent, the first in the country to be declared as the Reference Center of the Communist Party of Cuba, in 1983.
Aguilera Morales reported all the first-level and government visits made to Las Tunas since 1978 by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, Army General Raúl Castro, and those carried out to date by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
An exponent of a versatile journalistic exercise, with notable initiatives, adherence to the norms of cable writing, and high productivity, Aguilera Morales holds the Raúl Gómez García and Félix Elmusa distinctions, as well as the Rossano Zamora Paadín Lifetime Achievement Award, granted by the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC).
Róger is among the agency's professionals with the longest active time in the country. Today, in the context of confrontation with COVID-19, he reinvents himself to care for his health and the small but immensely large group just by having the experience and knowledge of a teacher like him.
