The members of the Union of Journalists of Cuba held its 11th Congress Balance Assembly, convinced that developing this conclave of transformation implies incorporating the changes to which they aspire to the newsrooms, to the day-to-day, to the internal of each one of them.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- This was why the Juan Antonio Borrego Innovation Award, won by 26 Newspaper at the recent Third National Press Festival, headed the report, approved by the affiliates. This shows that professional routines and ways of doing things have been modified toward the common goal.

The meeting of colleagues from all the municipalities demanded, for example, that the journalism degree program be moved to the provincial university. The interventions were recurrent regarding the existence of a professional and academic potential to mold the future members of the sector and, if possible, to bet on territoriality. The new formative model of the university colleges implies the study from twelfth grade in Camagüey.

The material shortages, essential for performance in times of crisis or to do more in the digital scenario, were latent in many interventions, without ignoring the commitment to seek growth in each one, in considering the professional resources as the greatest and most complete strength.

Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, national president of UPEC, stressed at the end of the meeting that this had been a difficult period, marked by several phenomena. In addition, he noted that even when they have tried to fracture national unity and consensus, the press is an important part to face the symbolic struggle that the Revolution is waging. Moreover, this is the Congress of the editorial, economic and technological transformation, for a better press, for which we aspire to take it "to a good port," according to his words.
Weaving alliances within the sector or with the institutions, maintaining unity, are added to the imperatives of Las Tunas press that subscribe to Fidel Castro's thought of seeking "changes, yes, but revolutionary changes."
The UPEC Balance Assembly ratified Adalys Ray Haynes as the head of the Provincial Executive, elected the Ethics Commission in the territory, and voted for those who will represent us in the final session of the 11th Congress, scheduled for July in Havana.
