As part of an intense work agenda in the country's municipalities, Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, arrived today in Majibacoa, in the eastern province of Las Tunas., reported the Presidency in X.
Havana, Cuba.- The president's tour began on the farm of the Velázquez brothers, of the "Cuba Va" Credit and Services Cooperative, together with Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC. There he learned that in just 13 hectares these producers, using science, achieve high yields in various crops, harvesting in previously unproductive soils.
It was explained that, for 20 years, with patience, the Velázquez have irrigated tons of local organic matter, allowing them to obtain crops that, this year, should leave two million pesos in profits. The farm is also dedicated to large and small livestock in about 80 hectares.
In the dialogue, the President highlighted that this project validates using agroecological practices and was interested in the crops' payments and the farmers' living conditions. Good job, declared Díaz-Canel when confirming the work being done.
In the worst moments, things are being done here, Díaz-Canel reflected. During the tour, he inquired about three main community problems, the leak in the multi-family buildings, the drainage problems of one of the town's main avenues, and the deterioration of the household cooking equipment.
He stressed that although there are serious material limitations, the most important thing is not to stop and do something every day, tearing a little piece out of each problem, always with the participation of the people.
This is the President's fifth visit to the eastern Cuban balcony, after checking the territories of Manatí, Puerto Padre, Jesús Menéndez, and Amancio Rodríguez. (ACN, Taken from Radio Havana Cuba)
