The tribute to José Martí began on Tuesday morning, when pioneers and high school students flooded Vicente García Street in the city of Las Tunas, turning it into a sea of joy and enthusiasm.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The participants carried banners and portraits of the Apostle; some wore costumes of characters from The Golden Age and others painted mustaches in the style of the National Hero.

The parade, which extended for several blocks, was full of color and creativity. They not only showed their admiration for Martí but made it clear that his legacy is a fundamental pillar in Cuban education. At each step, they raised books and posters with famous phrases and reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals of the Apostle.

Within the traditional parade, original initiatives emerged that surprised the attendees. Groups of students presented short plays and poems inspired by the life and work of Martí. The festive atmosphere was complemented by the music of the rhythm bands, encouraging the spectators, who did not hesitate to join in the dances and choreographies prepared by the young artists.

The school community united to honor the Maestro and ensure that his thought is not just a memory, but a constant guide in the construction of a better future.

Although it is repeated year after year, the colors, joy, and essence do not diminish. They are observed reciting with passion and sincerity the so profound Simple Verses, while reverently evoking their immortal author. Every January, a Martí full of light, fresh and eternal, re-emerges.
