Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), conveyed recognition to the Las Tunas people for their heroism in assume their tasks, on the occasion of the upcoming commemoration of July 26, the 72nd anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.
Las Tunas, Cuba.– At the organization's 20th Ordinary Plenary Session, the political leader highlighted the population's support in the recovery of El Diamante, an emblematic neighborhood of this city, in addition to the transformation being implemented in El Cornito and the Theme Park, to name just a few examples.
The direct participation of the population in political, economic, and social activities will be decisive in the efforts of the main local authorities to celebrate the national anniversary event here, in 2026.
Workers and managers in the Commerce, Gastronomy, and Services sectors must diligently contribute to the benefit of the population, and this is what the members of the Party body agreed upon when evaluating the main economic indicators and the development of these sectors.
During the analysis, emphasis was placed on the problems they are facing, ranging from the non-payment of bank loans to insufficient hiring, and difficulties with banking services due to the lack of knowledge among some workers.
Other obstacles highlighted were the incidence of crime, corruption, and illegal activities, especially thefts from warehouses due to the lack of cooperative oversight of the resources that the Cuban state makes available to consumers, many of which involve those who are supposed to protect them. Deficiencies were raised in the personnel policy, as well as in the monitoring, control, and enforcement of various processes. All of this results in poor quality food preparation, deficient hygiene, and other difficulties in providing services.
The First Secretary of the PCC Provincial Committee, Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez, directed the transformation of these negative aspects through an effective strategy that includes improving the units, reducing receivable and payable accounts, maintaining permanent ties with clients, introducing merchandise, and increasing the sense of belonging.
Regarding the strengthening of the Socialist State Enterprise -another topic discussed at the meeting- it was reported that the main deficiencies lie in the lack of autonomy to carry out most of the tasks, as they depend on a higher authority.
The conversion of basic business units into companies is not progressing in the province, and these entities lack access to foreign currency for imports, which impacts the guarantee of inputs for transportation, machinery, and industry.
Furthermore, there are limitations to the competitiveness of the state sector with new economic actors, as well as a shortage of essential resources, including energy, cement, steel, timber, and other raw materials.
In this regard, Lorenzo Rodríguez indicated that each entity's strategic projections should be reviewed, and they must work efficiently and effectively to improve their results. He also emphasized the importance of meeting physical production targets through the use of science and implementing the 43 measures to improve the socialist state enterprise.
