Ever René Castro Martínez will be at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, to be held from August 28 to September 8, after learning of his inclusion in the javelin throw in the F-41 category, through an invitation letter from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The record holder and Pan American champion in Santiago de Chile 2023 registered his name along with athletes Marcos Antonio Rojas Jiménez, modern pentathlon, and the sprinter Reynaldo Espinosa Colás, as the representatives of Las Tunas in the upcoming five-ring events. The inclusión of the parathlete from Puerto Padre raises to 21 the members of the Antillean delegation to the competition for people with disabilities.
Thus, Ever René signs another chapter of personal improvement in his still young sports career since he was called to the national team last year. The native of Las Tunas, in less than 15 months on the foreign circuit, boasts four gold medals in regional events and Grand Prix, as well as two experiences in world championships, in which he has established his best records.
Castro Martínez' last performance occurred in the world competition in Kobe, Japan, where he took the implement to 37.95 meters, to finish in sixth place. This record constitutes the maximum distance traveled by the shots of the native from the Maniabón village.
