Youth Las Tunas archers.

Luis Javier Sánchez and Elaimis García, archers with spots for the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, will attend a training camp in the Paraguayan capital from August 2 to 6, according to the Jit sports publication.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Luis Javier and Elaimis, who specialize in recurve bow, will be under the direction of coach Aliesky Reyes. “I hope that due to the nature of the camp, we can do some competitive training, which will help a lot because they have few competitions. So we will try to make up for that there.”

“In the last three weeks before the event, we will be focused on achieving athletic fitness. We will do competitive modeling, primarily strengthening the individual Olympic Round and the mixed team, since these are the two events that will provide medals,” the coach added. The correction of technical elements and the shots for the double rounds at 70 (recurve) and 50 meters (compound) are also part of the planning for this final stretch.

Along with Luis Javier and Elaimis, the other members of the Cuban squad, Yanior Tabares and Rosalicia Domínguez, who specialize in compound bow, will be attending the camp.

As a complement to the camp schedule, seminars on various topics are included, which also complement the training of the coaches, Jit reported.

According to Tamara Jiménez, president of the Cuban Archery Federation, workshops will be held on technical aspects and training loads, physical therapy, nutrition, psychology, and updates on the use of prohibited substances.

The Asunción 2025 training camps began last April with one dedicated to wrestling; in recent months, they have also been organized for judo, rhythmic gymnastics, beach volleyball, fencing, taekwondo, and triathlon, among others.
