The Cuban National Series could start in September

While in Cuba the fans are still waiting for a possible start date for the 60th National Baseball Series, the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) recently released a list of health and operational recommendations for the safe return of their activities.

Infielder Denis Peña

The National Baseball Directorate officially announced the list of 116 Cuban baseball talents, and in Las Tunas all alarms should immediately jump as only three Leñadores (Lumberjacks) appear on the roll that is already part of the country's Training Center for the 2020-2024 period.

Possible alternatives for the competition format of the 60th Baseball Series are being analyzed

The attractive idea of a National Series with up to 125 games for elite teams has been put on hold for at least a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the debate now revolves around possible alternatives.

Ermidelio Urrutia

At the age of 7 or 8, he would ride his horse and ride a mile to watch a baseball game on one of the few black and white televisions in Macagua 8, in the municipality of Jobabo, Las Tunas. When the power plant turned up the voltage, Armando Capiró looked like a giant and the cathartic Gerardo Egües could be better appreciated when his cap was turned backward because he did not wear a helmet.

Third baseman Denis Peña

The third baseman Denis Peña is the only player from Las Tunas included in the list of about 90 prospects of Cuban baseball, made by the National Directorate of this sport with the aim of developing the base of the Cuba team in the period 2020-2024.
