Colombia's High Commissioner for Peace Office on Sunday confirmed that the second round of peace talks with the National Liberation Army (ELN) will begin on Monday in Mexico.
Bogotá.- This round is part of thorough, definitive peacebuilding, it was said in a statement.
The Office thanked Mexico for hospitality, a guarantor country along with Venezuela, Chile, Norway, and Brazil.
These talks will continue to be attended by UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres, through his Special Representative in Colombia, and members of the Episcopal Conference.
Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain will be present at this 2nd Round of Peace Talks as accompanying countries.
“These nations' and institutions' presence is a sign of confidence with and continued support for strengthening peace in Colombia,” the communiqué emphasized.
Both sides' official delegations held an extraordinary meeting, so impasses generated at the end of 2022 were clarified. (PL)
