Clashes between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary forces in the town of El-Fasher, the capital city of North Darfur, have already killed 27 persons and wounded 130, UN sources informed in this capital on Monday.
Khartoum.- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that the fighting broke out on Friday and is taking place in downtown Khartoum, causing the displacement of hundreds of people.
OCHA warned that the hospital in the city has exceeded its maximum capacity and does not have ambulances to transport the wounded; it also has limited equipment due to the increase in cases, and no surgical supplies are arriving.
More than 40,600 people have been forced to flee due to clashes between the Army and paramilitary forces, both supported by several tribal militias in the area, while one and a half million people remain trapped both in the city and in the three main camps for displaced persons.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been plunged into an internal war following a power struggle between General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Army, and General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, leader of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). (PL)
