The Encouragement Committee of the National Assembly for Social Reforms, Peace and Unity on Friday convened several rallies to support the program defended by Colombian President Gustavo Petro.
Bogotá.- The first will be held on July 16 at Plaza de Bolívar, downtown Bogotá, where the head of State will sign the Pension Reform approved on June 14 by the Congress of the Republic.
The gathering was summoned by trade unions, and social and political organizations, according to Fabio Arias, leader of the Workers Unitary Union (CUT).
On Friday, a call was also made to a broad popular mobilization on August 7, the second anniversary of Petro’s taking office.
The mobilization will be held nationwide, in the particular case of Bogota, it will start at 09:00 hours, local time, at the National Park, from where participants will march to Plaza de Bolívar.
In addition, the Committee informed about the decision to convene its assembly for September 14 and 15 in Bogota.
According to the press release, the new date responds to “the end of the collective vacation period of the administrative personnel and workers of the National University and the confirmation of the normalization of the academic activity of that institution.” (PL)
