Traffic accidents in El Salvador continue to leave a deadly trail nationwide despite the measures taken by local authorities, reports show.
San Salvador.- Statistics from the National Road Safety Observatory say that 10,357 road accidents that resulted in 722 deaths and 6,027 injured, were reported between January 1 and July 17, 2024,
On Friday morning, an accident in Comalapa left multiple people injured, according to the Emergency Medical System (SEM).
The authorities reported that a truck collided with a pick-up truck at kilometer 13 of the highway to Comalapa, and it is suspected that the driver of the truck was drunk and therefore hit the other car, resulting in five injuries.
On Thursday night, the police reported another accident when a truck overturned after colliding with another vehicle at kilometer 3 and a half of the highway that leads to Los Planes de Renderos in this capital city, resulting in several injuries.
Also, a cyclist was run over and killed in the direction leading to the city of Santa Ana, in the western part of the country. The driver fled the scene and authorities have not yet reported his capture.
Also, one person died and five others were injured after a collision between two vehicles on the Panamerican highway, in San Vicente, this Thursday. (PL)
