The Ministry of Health (MINSA) of Nicaragua reported an 18% decrease in confirmed dengue cases compared to the previous week, due to a campaign against the disease.
Managua.- A statement from the health institution specified that 183 people with dengue were registered.
Nicaragua intensified the fight against the disease since September when the MINSA reported an increase in confirmed cases due to the rainy season.
Dengue exhibits a seasonal pattern, aligning with the warmer and rainier months of the year, according to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
In contrast, the MINSA reported no cases of leptospirosis, but there was a 13-percent increase in malaria patients, totaling 81 cases.
Pneumonia cases remained the same as during the previous week (590), while influenza was positive in three people with respiratory illness, which is considered to be in an epidemiological control zone. (PL)
