The Uruguayan Ministry of Environment has in hand a project to build a photovoltaic power station with more than 1,844,400 panels.
Montevideo.- This program corresponds to the request for project classification and environmental feasibility of location and was presented to the National Directorate of Quality and Environmental Assessment as part of the procedures to obtain the Prior Environmental Authorization (AAP) for the construction of the plant, which will have inverters, transformation centers, and three substations.
The initiative was proposed by HIF Global Company, which plans to establish a plant for green hydrogen and synthetic fuel in Paysandú, located in the western part of the country. The goal of the power station is to generate electricity to supply energy for the hydrogen and synthetic fuel production plant.

According to the company, the park will have a maximum power of 1,162 megawatts peak (MWp). The high-voltage line will be approximately 110 kilometers long, involving about 245 leased and self-supporting towers.
HIF Global said construction will take about 18 months “at most” and specified that -during peak construction- it will require about 400 direct workers and 50 indirect ones. When the plant is operational, it will employ between eight and 12 direct workers and between four and six indirect, the company said. (PL)
