Solidarity and popular economy initiatives are promted by signatories of the Final Peace Agreement.

The Colombian government announced the allocation of monetary resources to strengthen four solidarity and popular economy initiatives led by signatories of the Final Peace Agreement in the departments of Cauca and Meta.

Bogotá.- According to Alejandra Miller, the director of the Agency for Reincorporation and Normalization (ARN), 1.6 billion pesos (approximately $380,000 at the current exchange rate) will be allocated to sustainable livestock farming and a pig farm, among other projects.

The official added that 90 more projects will also be financed this year and will also be offered access to credit through an agreement between the agency and Banco Agrario.

One of the initiatives is the Trocha Sentires de la Montaña (lit: “Mountain Trail Feelings”) in Cauca, in the southwest of the country, which represents a space for women’s empowerment and reincorporation for 31 persons, mostly females.

The group, Multi-Active Cooperative for a New Colombian Countryside, is developing its dual-purpose livestock project on the El Berlín farm, a property donated by the National Land Agency (ANT) in the Meta region, in the center-east of the country.

Another of the favored ventures will be the Comprehensive Cooperative for Women and Men Peace Builders of Bordo Patía Cauca, which seeks to implement a pig production system based on good livestock practices.

Recently, the Colombian government also handed over the 400-hectare Laguna farm to 40 peace-signing families who are part of the Multi-Active Associative Group for Peace, located in the San Juan district of the southwestern department of Huila. (PL)
