Cuba’s province of Matanzas will host the 3rd Mother Earth Environmental Festival on Sunday. The festival aims to promote love for biodiversity through an artistic and ecological approach.
Matanzas, Cuba. According to the website www.radio26.cu, the event, organized by the Cocomar Group and the Ecologito project, aims to acknowledge Mother Earth’s role in human life.
Maryvel Delgado, Cocomar coordinator-general, explained that the event combines culture and environment from an inclusive and creative viewpoint that seeks unity and cooperation in caring for the environment.
She said the activities started at Las Palmas Cultural Center at 10:00 hours (local time), with the participation of children from local socio-cultural projects, under the guidance of the characters Nana Natura and Espantarín.
Delgado said that the Festival features an ecological moment at the El Tenis beach in this city, with a fashion show in which children and youngsters will parade costumes made of recycled materials as a symbol of commitment to protecting the environment and sustainable creativity.
As in previous years, the event will include a craft fair and focus on biodiversity on Earth as a call to recognize the value of all forms of life through an educational and festive experience, she said. (PL)
