The Cuban President is in Rusia to attend the Victory Day Parade.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez announced on social media his departure for Russia to attend the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and the 65th anniversary of the reestablishment of relations between Cuba and Russia.

President Díaz-Canel Bermúdez arrived in St. Petersburg, his first stop, where he and the Cuban delegation were received by Governor Alexander Beglov at Pulkovo airport.

"You have accepted the invitation of the Russian president to celebrate with us a sacred holiday - the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. It is significant for us that your visit starts in our city. The feat of the besieged Leningrad is unequalled in world history. The city survived thanks to the courage of the defenders, representatives of different nationalities. Among them were Cuban patriots, brothers Aldo and Jorge Vivo. They are our heroes," the press service quoted Beglov as saying.

The Cuban presidency announced through its X account that the two leaders will have a working meeting to discuss prospects for economic, cultural, and educational cooperation.

On Saturday, the president led a political act and military ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, held at the Mausoleum of the Soviet Internationalist Soldier, on the outskirts of Havana, where rest the remains of combatants from the former Soviet republics who lost their lives during a mission in Cuba.

At the event, Diaz-Canel said it was "an honor" for him to be present on May 9 on the Red Square. (With information from news agencies)
