The Mártires de Las Tunas General Pediatric Teaching Hospital celebrates its 63rd anniversary today, immersed in an important investment process, the improvement of the 25 specialties in which it provides comprehensive care, and the improvement of its quality indicators.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dr. María Cristina Cisneros Vázquez, director of the institution, exclusively told the Cuban News Agency that the center is committed to maintaining the vitality of all its services, despite the complex economic scenario that the country is experiencing. This includes the lack of some medical resources and supplies, as well as fluctuations in human resources due to migration and other factors.
The conclusion of the investment actions in diagnostic means of all emergency locations is among the reasons for the Pediatric to exhibit a better quality in the care of its patients.
Cisneros Vázquez pointed out that as a word of order, they maintain a rational and efficient use of resources, planning, and the accurate use of the most experienced professionals to maintain deficit specialties and strengthen others such as intensive care, cardiology, neurology, and nephrology.
With committed personnel, from the medical staff to the administrative services, the hospital has contributed to the reduction of morbidity and mortality achieving a survival rate of 96.4 percent and an infant mortality rate of 0.15, according to the directive.
Among the challenges after these 63 years of dedication to the health of a population sector as sensitive as children, the “Mártires de Las Tunas” plans to continue advancing in compliance with all hospital indicators, the investment efforts that ensure better care and work environment, and continuing to develop the teaching process to reach higher scientific categories.
