Two of the main hotels in Las Tunas province, Las Tunas and Cadillac, already exhibit their respective certifications for more hygienic and safe tourism. The requirements, reconciled between the Ministry of the sector (MINTUR) and the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) guarantee the exercise of activity complying with the protocols against the new coronavirus pandemic.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- When last June Cuba began its recovery from COVID-19 staggered and asymmetrically, managers and workers in the domestic tourism industry began to apply a series of measures against this new disease, a process that now concludes with the obtaining of the Most Hygienic Tourism Certification and Insurance (T + HS).
These norms imply the strict follow-up of the Protocol of hygiene and security in Cuba to face COVID-19 established by the Ministry of Tourism following the indications issued by the world organizations of Health (WHO) and Tourism (OMT); as well by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) for the gradual reactivation of the industry without chimneys.
This qualification that has already been received by more than 40 facilities in the country's sector, including several located in the northern keys of the province of Ciego de Ávila, covers a wide range of requirements and meets not only requisites for vacationers but also for workers.
From the organizational point of view of tourist activity, it involves training staff from the pre-opening stage in security, hygiene and disinfection measures derived from the COVID-19 pandemic. It supposes the empowerment of the digitization of the processes in which the clients intervene; as well as the review and adjustment of hygiene procedures, incorporating disinfection in all processes. Likewise, it obliges them to guarantee the stable supply of equipment and products for hygiene and disinfection, approved by the MINSAP in all areas of the buildings.
Other of the clear guidelines that support certification is that mechanisms for active surveillance of cases with respiratory infections in workers and tourists must have been created; together with the disinfection of hands and surfaces of common use; the limitation of the number of people and the spaces in the gastronomic facilities of tourism and extra-hotel shops.
The process of categorizing hygienic and safe tourism will also be extended to the non-state sector, specifically to the renters of rooms in Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC) of the municipality of Las Tunas.
