The Plenary Session of the Las Tunas Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), chaired by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, elected Osbel Lorenzo Rodríguez as its First Secretary.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- Osbel, 51, holds a degree in Education, specializing in Primary Education. He has 25 years of experience in administrative and political leadership, most of it in the province of Sancti Spíritus. In the PCC, he served as First Secretary in the municipal committees of Trinidad and Sancti Spíritus, and for more than four years was a member of the Provincial Bureau in two areas of work, until being promoted to First Secretary on the Isle of Youth. In this latter territory, he is recognized for the direct and permanent connection he maintained with the people, his perseverance and dedication to promoting and restoring decisive economic and social programs in the municipality of Pinar del Río, as well as the favorable atmosphere of unity and trust surrounding the Party, in close relationship with other institutions.
Previously, and at the request of the Political Bureau, the highest political body on the Balcón de Oriente (Balcony of Eastern Cuba) agreed to release Walter Simón Noris from his position as First Secretary of this Committee. The members of the Plenary expressed their recognition for his personal qualities and performance as head of the Party organization. Simón Noris will be assigned other responsibilities.
Humberto Camilo Hernández Suárez, a member of the Central Committee and head of its Cadre Policy Department, also participated in the Plenary.
