The "Guiteras had to finish its harvest.

After several days of waiting for essential resources for agro-industrial machinery and automotive and rail transport, it was inevitable that the Antonio Guiteras sugar mill would enter the liquidation phase of the harvest.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Workers and managers had decided to remain in the sugarcane harvest as long as conditions permitted, to grind all the sugarcane, whether to produce sugar, molasses, or generate electricity.

However, the sustained shortages of lubricants, fuel, and electricity constituted a series of obstacles linked to the United States' blockade against Cuba, which thwarted the fulfillment of the production plans. This is the worst harvest ever for the Colossus of the Puerto Padre municipality, according to Rafael Pantaleón Quevedo, director general of the Antonio Guiteras sugar agro-industrial company.

Despite the unthinkable outcome of the campaign, the executive wanted to express his gratitude for the support provided by the forces from Uruguay, Colombia, Amancio Rodríguez, and the Majibacoa sugar mills. Regarding the latter, he had words of praise for the shift led by engineer Mario Lasque Meriño (Mayito).

Now, the focus of the effort is to complete the Technical Standard 52 for cleaning, dismantling, and maintaining machinery, as well as on sugarcane planting, a task in which they have already surpassed what was achieved in the same period of the previous year by more than 400 hectares.
