The Leñadores (Las Tunas Lumberjacks) had their first practice today at the "home" of the Mexico City Diablos Rojos, the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium, the venue of the Baseball Champions League of the Americas 2025.

Pantoja also announced the staters for the opening round. Andy Vargas will pitch the Lumberjacks' first game against the Santa Maria Pirates, the Double-A Curaçao League (AA League) champions. Albert Valladares will take the mound against the Kane County Cougars of the American Association (AAPB). Early this morning, journalist Orlando Cruz announced the change in the pitching rotation from Mexico, as Yoanis Yera was originally announced as the first starter.

The manager of the Curaçao Pirates, the first opponent of the Red and Green squad, said that they are a young team, but they have reinforced with two former Major League players currently playing in the Mexican League.
