The Lumberjacks are eager to bring this trophy home to their fans.

Today is the day. The Las Tunas Lumberjacks begin their journey in the Baseball Champions League Americas 2025 (BCL), which opened yesterday at the majestic Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium in Mexico City.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– Manager Abeicy Pantoja announced the lineup during yesterday's training session, clearing up any remaining doubts, especially about who would defend third base. We already knew that the right-hander Andy Vargas will take the mound in a bid to leverage his speed, control, and repertoire against the youth of his rivals.

Beyond the starting players, everyone will be ready to take to the grounds and defend the colors of the green and red squad and Cuba. It's a short tournament in which every aspect of the game must work together seamlessly to achieve a place at least among the semifinalists. However, everyone's dream is to hoist the championship trophy.

The Lumberjacks host the Santa María Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Cuban time.

The Curaçao representative fell on the opening day to the North American Cougars by a lopsided score of 16-14. The Pirates had taken a 13-8 lead in the eighth inning, but the defending American Association champions scored five runs in the ninth to claim their first victory.

Tuesday's winners rest today when, in addition to the Lumberjacks (Group B), the Nicaraguan champions Tigres de Chinandega will debut in Group A against Puerto Rican Florida Titans, at 9:30 pm.
