Directors, methodologists, and educators from all levels of the Las Tunas education system participated in a provincial seminar to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, held at the Rita Longa Pedagogical School.
Las Tunas, Cuba.– During the meeting, the progress of the current 2024-2025 school year was evaluated, which entered its final phase, with the finalization of the calendar and the application of exams. Despite the difficulties faced, such as the instability in the coverage of certain subjects, authorities assure that the fundamental content has been guaranteed, which bodes well for favorable results.
One of the most significant moments was the completion of studies for fourth-year students at the Pedagogical School. They graduated in 16 specialties and will begin working as teachers at various educational levels in September. Some culminating exercises were held at the institutions where these young people are to start their working lives, as part of a new pedagogical experience.
“The provincial seminar was part of a national strategy promoted by the Ministry of Education, which proposes six strategic objectives, nine key processes, and more than 120 efficiency indicators. Among the topics covered were the improvement of political-ideological work and the teaching of Cuban history, considered central pillars of the new course,” said Juan Miguel Barrios, Deputy Director General of Education in Las Tunas.
Preparation for the school year was divided into four stages, of which two have concluded. The third phase will take place between July 8 and 11, with meetings in the municipalities. The fourth and last will be held from July 14 to 19 and will be dedicated to the direct preparation of teachers in each school.
In addition to the academic organization, it was announced that the vacation program for pioneers, students, and workers in the sector will begin on July 19th, the day teacher training concludes. Despite financial constraints, facilities have been created in villages, camps, and pioneer facilities to ensure recreational and rest spaces.
The province's educational authorities took the opportunity to greet families, students, and workers in the sector, wishing them happy holidays and reaffirming their commitment to a new school year that will begin in September, with renewed goals and challenges.
