Yamandú Orsi, the new Uruguayan President.

The final results of the Supreme Court’s ordinary vote confirmed the victory of the Frente Amplio (FA) candidate, Yamandú Orsi, who got 49,84% of the ballots.

Montevideo.- The Orsi-Carolina Cosse formula added 1,196,798 votes, ahead of the 1,101,296 votes for the former secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, and former trade unionist Valeria Ripoll, with 45,87% of the votes.

Compared to the first round, Frente Amplio increased by about six percentage points, while the others lost a point and a half from what was achieved on October 27.

The Electoral Court registered 38,478 blank votes, 64,500 nullified, and 35,761 observed.

In a country where voting is mandatory by law, there was a turnout of 89% of just over 2.7 million eligible voters.

It was a decisive voting, for the Frente Amplio in Montevideo and Canelones, the most populous of the 19 country's departments.

It also won in San José, Paysandú, and Salto departments, although by a tight margin.

In the first round, the FA became the majority in the Senate and was two votes away from achieving it in the Chamber of Deputies. (PL)
