Majid Takht Ravanchi, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi assured that his country will continue its uranium enrichment and nuclear program under international standards, despite the war unleashed by Israel.

Tehran.- We are members of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and, within this framework, we continue to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes to meet our country’s needs, the official stated in an interview with German public television station ARD, as cited by the national press. The deputy minister also denounced the US bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites and warned that, as victims of ongoing aggression, we have the right to defend ourselves under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and that is what we will do.

When asked about the next steps, Ravanchi noted that he is not a military officer, but asserted that “our army knows what to do and will do it with precision.”

“When Israel attacks us with the help of the United States, there is no point in continuing the dialogue. Tehran was in negotiations with Washington when Israel attacked Iran on June 13.

We don't negotiate just for the sake of negotiating,” he explained.

Ravanchi also criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who stated that Israel “is doing the dirty work” for “all of us.”

Regrettably, Merz would use such words.

We don’t know if he regrets it or not, but that is not the appropriate way to address such important issues.

“We hope that Germany will stand on the side of the victim, not the aggressor,” he concluded. (PL)
