The Civil Status Registry in this province offers its basic services on a reduced scaleorder to guarantee the vitality of some very important procedures, despite the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the territory, the Civil Status Registry in this province offers its basic services on a reduced scale, maintaining the practice of birth and death registration as a fundamental activity and others related to specific cases. Besides, they are always implementing the health measures established in the country.

Rafael Pantaleón Hernández, the main registrarLas Tunas, Cuba.- The Civil Status Registry does not suspend its work, as confirmed by Rafael Pantaleón Hernández, the main registrar in that entity, who stated that it does not mean that work has been eliminated due to the presence of the virus, but that they only attend to persons who request the issuance of death, marriage and widowhood certificates, among others, for pensions in case of death.

“Better known as checkbook procedures, these documents required by the National Social Security Institute (INASS in Spanish) continue to be delivered there since the population requires such documents to prove the link of kinship or filiation if a death occurs."

Although exceptionally, other procedures not related to the INASS may be authorized, these will be issued if the order is expressly authorized by the provincial director of justice. He also stressed that the issuance of certificates for emigration related to criminal records to the public is paralyzed since only those addressed to the police unit and judicial cases are carried out.

The jurist Pantaleón Hernández clarified that they work every day to fulfill their duty and, moreover, they do so taking into account some considerations in order to preserve the health of the workers and that of the clients.

“As a measure, given the possible spread of the pandemic, the Registry shortened the term to issue the certification, so that what was previously granted in five days, today we culminate it on the same date it is requested, and thus the user does not have to leave the house twice for that reason," he explained.

“Our duty is to work putting into practice the principles of the Revolution and we do it with more efficiency, responsibility, humanism and sensitivity in the treatment when giving some answer, when being solicitous before a procedure and when receiving some suggestion for the best performance."

“It is also mandatory in this center, the use of mask, the constant washing of hands with soap solutions, the sustained cleaning of the surfaces with chlorinated liquids, together with the social distance of more than one meter between the clients, and the avoidance of agglomerations."
