Teatro Tuyo celebrates its 22nd anniversary

Tickets for the first show were already sold out when the pandemic again forced it to reinvent itself. The 22 years of Teatro Tuyo could not be celebrated as its architects had planned (live, close to the public), but they quickly looked for alternatives. The program of celebrations will thus reach cyberspace, through social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Today, at 4:00 pm, they will bring us to Clownsicos, a tribute concert dedicated to the famous clowns in history Charlot (Charles Chaplin), Ferdinando (Jiri Vrstala), Popov (Oleg Popov), Bip (Marcel Marceau) and Trompoloco ( Edwin Fernández).

Aixa ProwlTomorrow, at the same time, it will be Charivari's turn, an amusement in which humor, attachment to our identity, juggling and other garnishes converge. Meanwhile, on Sunday, at the same time, Clarostuyo will once again remind us of the magical symbiosis between theatrical art and the most beautiful form of beauty, starring the actors Ernesto Parra and Aixa Prowl, along with the musicians Clarissa Damila Pérez Hernández and Carlos Manuel Fernández Castro.

What will these virtual winks be like? We'll see. Nothing and nobody stops Teatro Tuyo. The dynamic Clowns at home, developed in last year's quarantine, attests to this.

This is how the theatrical group that emerged on January 15, 1999, under the name of Proyecto Piñata, reaches its 22 years of age, the beginning of a path full of recognitions, among which the Villanueva (critics), Adolfo Llauradó (acting) and Caricato awards stand out.

The “Tuyos” (that is, ours) arrive at the birthday with the certainty that Omar Valiño summarized in a previous birthday of the group: “The real success of Teatro Tuyo (…) lies in having planted and made grow, in a desert land, a lush tree of noses.”

It is well demonstrated by the students of the National Clown School -one of their materialized dreams -, the little ones in their children's company, and those who have drank its sap in the workshops to enhance such a unique art.

Today, Teatro Tuyo is an oasis. It multiplies in all those who know that the red nose is something more than a simple accessory; it is a responsibility with oneself and with the public, a vocation.

Ernesto ParraThat is why each part of the process must be taken very seriously. They know it and they persevere. They enrich shows, expand repertoires, and change their interpreters ... Many anecdotes are added since Two stories to be told (work from which the group took its current name).

In previous dialogues with this reporter, some of its protagonists have summarized the meaning of the brotherhood in their lives. “I am struck by the will of the group and the ability of Ernesto Parra (the director) to make people fall in love with his work. Personally, he has given me a character that I did not know that he lived within me and has endowed me with a technique," Alejandro Miguel Batista Pupo said.

“It has been a beautiful path. It takes mastery, physical preparation and of all kinds. Since I joined the group I have been a Dance Techniques teacher and although I am Ernesto's wife there is no difference; here I am just another worker, the demand is the same,” said Aixa Prowl.

The leader, with that natural gift of leading by example, once explained: “I am like a child who invites people to participate in his games. I have only done theater every day. In the end, the words do not speak, but the work.”
