The medicines are sold simultaneously in all pharmacies

Throughout the province of Las Tunas, measures are taken to affect the population as little as possible to the deficit of just over 100 drugs in the basic chart, among those imported and of domestic production, as a direct consequence of the US blockade and the lack of liquidity in the economy.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to Maykel Corrales Manzano, head of Medicines and Medical Technologies in the territory, alternatives are sought to alleviate the shortages and make the drug reach those who really need it.
He said that, since October, the country imports those of the control cards to cover about thirty days and arrive at the beginning of the month to the pharmaceutical units.

“We assume the strategy of reviewing the drugs of the control cards, certificates, and registrations, with the purpose of updating the doses and types of medications, mainly those of the same pharmacological group. It is not a simple study, and we have already detected difficulties as double cards.

“It means that a patient who buys twice affects someone else. We have also found two products from the same group and this leads to hoarding, illegal sales and, of course, that a part of the population feels the lack stronger.

“We decided to sell the medicines simultaneously in all pharmacies to win in organization and prevent patients from buying in a place where he is not enrolled, he also explained.”

While current prescriptions are more difficult to counterfeit; unscrupulous people manage to photocopy and print them. Other problems identified are the so-called complacency prescriptions; incidence that is analyzed in the drug-therapeutic committees.

They also take measures to prevent violations within pharmacies; among them, to guarantee the presence of neighbors of the community during the check of the drugs that enter these entities.

In times of limitations, we have to be more supportive and think not only of our own health but of that of the children, the elderly and of anyone who needs medicine to alleviate the ills. In this regard, Corrales made a call to prudence and discipline: "If you really solve with a drug, do not ask for more."
