60th anniversary of the CDRs in Cuba

With the certainty that the Revolution is defended from each neighborhood and in different ways, with contributions such as voluntary blood donations and support for inquiries against the new coronavirus, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) celebrate in Las Tunas the 60th birthday of that organization founded by Fidel Castro Ruz, the historical leader of the Cuban socialist project.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The anniversary is remembered here with the satisfaction that the province is Outstanding in national emulation, an achievement that is due, among other reasons, to the adequate cadre policy, the work in the confrontation with the COVID-19 and supporting the effort to meet the planned energy consumption.

Maura Rodríguez Ramírez, provincial coordinator, said that the territory also stands out for the promotion of Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture, at a time when the country needs to make the most of the potential for food production.

In this context of celebrations, she pointed out, they develop a wide program of activities such as the declaration of 60th Anniversary patios, within the popular movement Desde tu barrio cultiva tu pedacito (From your neighborhood, cultivate your little plot), and the placement of a sticker on the homes of the players of the provincial baseball team, on the occasion of the 60th National Series, dedicated to the six decades of life of the largest mass organization in the nation.

In turn, doctors, nurses and other health professionals who made up the Henry Reeve international contingent, in the global offensive against the new coronavirus, will receive a plaque in their homes.

The provincial coordinator of the CDRs in Las Tunas added that the program also includes the delivery of the 50th Anniversary commemorative stamp of the Mirando al Mar Detachments (Aiming at the Sea), to the municipalities of Puerto Padre and “Jesús Menéndez,” national vanguards, and protectors of the people and the Cuban coasts.

Likewise, the four most outstanding community projects of the province will be recognized: Fiesta del Mar, Manatí; El Callejón de la Ceiba and 16 de Octubre, in the capital city, and Origen, in the municipality of "Colombia."

Notwithstanding the current circumstances and with due observance of the measures directed by the authorities, the Provincial Blood Bank and the Luis Urquiza Jorge Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences, deserving of the Barrio Award, outstanding people from Las Tunas in the confrontation with the COVID-19, grassroots organizations and member of the CDRs, will also receive the recognition for their effort and dedication to an emblematic organization of the struggle and resistance of the Cuban people since September 1960.
