Las Tunas achieved compliance with the assigned energy plan

During the last five months, Las Tunas adjusted to the assigned energy plan, and even registers a decrease in consumption so far in 2021, which was decisive for the provincial Electric Company to receive the status of Outstanding for the fourth consecutive year.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Anislei Santiesteban Velázquez, commercial director of the entity, explained to the Cuban News Agency that from August to December 2020 the territory did not overdraw, despite being a period marked by the fuel deficit generated due to the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the government of the United States.

The specialist also recognized that the province is giving a positive response to the Ordering Task, since so far in 2021 there has been a reduction of six percent of what was planned.

Santiesteban Velázquez added that it is significant that the lowest consumption was at night, which represents the positive impact of the population sector, since homes are the most involved in those hours and because they have usually used 70 percent of energy in Las Tunas.

Regarding the prospects of the province to join the change in the country's energy matrix, René Rocío Pupo, deputy director of the Company, specified that the development program for the current year envisages the continuation of the construction of the La Herradura 1 wind farm, stopped in 2020 due to lack of financing.

For this, the casting of the two bases that are missing to complete the circuit, which is made up of 22 wind turbines, is expected; and in parallel, the construction of the electrical substation that through a 110-kilovolt line will be linked to the national network when the park is finished will continue.

This year, the construction of two photovoltaic solar parks will also be undertaken, with which there will be six in the province, counting two that already operate in Puerto Padre and the same number in Manatí.
