Acinox did not stop producing oxygen

During this year, the ACINOX Las Tunas Stainless Steel Company has maintained its production of medicinal oxygen for the country's Health System; a key component also for the nation's fight against COVID-19.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Only so far in 2021, the entity has supplied more than 85 thousand liters of liquid oxygen to the national hospital network. All from its auxiliary plant that is capable of producing between 1,300 and 1,500 liters daily. The plant also produces other products necessary for the factory's production line, such as nitrogen and argon.

Jorge Luis León Hernández, director of Acinox Las Tunas' Logistics and Supply and Sales base business unit, stressed that regardless of whether the steel plant is active or not, the Company has not stopped its oxygen production; knowing, he said, how important it is for the lives of patients in hospital facilities.

"We have a storage capacity of about 40 thousand liters, which allows us to continue producing 24 hours a day, satisfy our own needs, and fulfill our commitments with the Industrial Gases Company," he said.

The manager also commented that ACINOX Las Tunas' investment plans include creating a bottling line within its auxiliary plant. This, he commented, would add more value to the gases produced there, which could be offered to their customers in smaller packaging formats and not just in large tanks, as it is done so far.
