Documentary ¡Tu puerto, Padre!

After an extensive promotion on social media, the Iremú Cinema, in the northern municipality of Puerto Padre, hosted the premiere of the documentary ¡Tu Puerto, Padre! by filmmaker Reymundo Betancourt, who expands on the theory that attributes the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the bay of the northern municipality of Tunas.

Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- Driven by historical gaps around the definitive decision on the point of connection between the two cultures, besides the little debate about it, Betancourt added the audiovisual creation to the extensive research compiled in the five volumes of the book Puerto Primado de Cuba (Cuba’s Primate Port).

"In 25 minutes, 25 years of investigations are presented. It is essential to thank all the Columbian researchers who preceded me, as well as the perennial doubt about the subject that made the materialization of this work possible," acknowledged the creator of the graphic sequence.

The draft of documents starts from the emergence of the name of the territory, the location of an aboriginal settlement in Maniabón, until the officialization of Bariay's proposal, which was determined through a vote by show of hands, in 1941. Meanwhile, the author proposes specific arguments such as the influence of ocean tides on the shipping companies, particularities of the measurements of that time, and the environmental transformations of the involved sites.
